Structure of Teacher Studies

The 1999 signing of the Bologna Declaration by ministers from 29 European countries, including the CR, significantly improved integration efforts in the field of higher education in Europe.  The Bologna Declaration set out six specific objectives to be met by 2010:

  1. Adopt a system of comprehensible and comparable degrees/titles for higher education.
  2. Adopt a system based on the undergraduate and (post)graduate cycle. This ultimately means that there are three levels of study - bachelor's, master's and doctoral.
  3. Introduce a credit system that encourages student mobility.
  4. Promote the mobility of university students, academic, research and administrative staff.
  5. Support European cooperation on quality in higher education.
  6. Strengthen the European dimension in university education.

In 2004, the Faculty of Education also began preparations for the transition to a new study organization.

The accreditation materials it had prepared were submitted to the Accreditation Commission of the CR in the spring of 2006, which then approved many of the study programmes encompassing all types of studies.
