Establishment of the Department of German

The Department of German has a young working team, foreign teachers and lecturers (DAAD). We have close working contacts with the University of Dresden (TUD and Mittleuropazentrum), and we help arrange foreign scholarships that can also be taken as part of a given study programme.

The study of German as a whole represents a balanced combination of linguistic, linguodidactic and literary scholarly disciplines, complemented by conversational exercises, practices and seminars focused on culture. With the exception of a few selected courses in the first year, teaching is conducted in German, so that foreign students with a DaF (Deutsch als Fremdsprache) specialization can study directly in the target language. Graduates receive training for professional pedagogical and cultural activities in the sphere of the German language. We have wide professional and creative contacts at home and abroad, not only do we organize conferences, but also excursions, festivals, etc.
