Apart from teaching chemistry, we also provide science teaching and two engineering study programmes: Nanotechnology and Bioengineering. To be specific, Nanotechnology is led under the Faculty of Mechatronics and Interdisciplinary Studies. What’s more, we also provide teaching about the environment and global issues for the entire university.
In order to do all this, we need a large team of excellent staff in all these fields. Under one roof, they have the best conditions to collaborate and explore the world where it is most interesting: at the frontiers of knowledge of various disciplines.
We foster a collegial and friendly environment that encourages collaboration and new ideas. Thanks to this, some of these ideas have had a resounding response. For example, the team at our department was behind the production of nano-masks, filters and filter materials for facemasks and respirators, which was reported by all Czech media in the spring of 2020.
Naturally, it is important that students are also part of the teams. We are glad to work with them, we know that without them we wouldn’t have such an outlook.
